Hi Sherri, yes, I remember you telling me about that sighting when it happened. there are about 14 lots to the west (on Pompano street) that are part of a bird sanctuary……lots of possums but haven’t seen coyotes for a while

Back in 95 I lived across the street from the bookstore in an apartment over what was then the paint store. One night I was looking out my window and saw a lone coyote trotting down the street toward the Blvd. It trotted past the bookstore toward the corner, hesitated a moment while it seemingly looked in the window of the T-shirt shop that was on the corner, and then trotted on around the corner and was gone. I thought that was the most amazing thing I had ever seen, second only to seeing a dolphin in the dock area where the old Sea Ranch had been. I was amazed to see the coyote in the developed part of the island and cherish that memory.

If we do not take care of the wildlife there and save some areas from development, what will South Padre Island look like in ten or twenty years. Excellent article,
